Stefan Pierer was born in 1956 in Bruck an der Mur, Austria. After completing a degree in business and energy management in 1982 from the Montan-University of Leoben in Austria, he began his professional career as an assistant to the CEO and then became the CSO at Hoval GmbH in Austria
.
Stefan Pierer began his entrepreneurial career in 1987, when he founded Pierer Industrie AG, an industrial group which, as CEO, he built up for more than three decades into a leading Austrian industrial group with sales of approximately EUR 3.5 billion and 11,000 employees. The heart of the group is Europe's largest manufacturer of PTWs (Powered Two Wheelers), with the brands KTM, Husqvarna, GASGAS and MV Agusta, which is listed on the SIX Swiss exchange in Zurich with its holding company PIERER Mobility AG. In addition to the two-wheeler group, Pankl AG is a supplier for the aviation, racing and automotive industries with a turnover of approximately EUR 1 billion and approximately 5,000 employees.
